Marketing Coordinator, USA Pro Challenge

When did you begin your job search?

I began looking for jobs around March of my senior year (before I knew i'd be taking some extra classes the next fall semester). I started by browsing job lists, but eventually found my job at the Pro Challenge through a connection via a past internship. I began working full time job before I even graduated from CSU! It was tough, but definitely worth all of the hard work! (And I got to go back and visit Fort Collins during the Bike Race that year!)

What has led you to your success?

I love interacting with people and I love learning. Every work connection I make, I view as an opportunity to learn something new. I walked into the Pro Challenge with a communications major and a history minor- it was my interest in the marketing, my "can-do" attitude and my willingness to learn, that got me into a Marketing Coordinator position.

What have you learned over the past few years that has helped you succeed in your career?

Always own your mistakes, and don't be afraid to say "no". I'm a team player and I love the people I work with. When I first started my job I wanted to do everything and be a part of everything. Eventually I had to learn to say "no" - I began focusing on the tasks I was best at and worked to make them better. It's important to remember that you can still be a team player, even if you have to say "no" on occasion.
