Virtual Career Fair – For Employers

EMPLOYERS, prepare for the Virtual Career Fair!

What's different?

  • Everything is virtual! All video sessions take place in Handshake
  • Advance registration and schedule set up is required by January 28, 2022.
  • The virtual format gives you options:
    • Group Sessions: 30 minutes each | up to 50 students can attend the session
      • Ideal for: students interested in learning more about a company, and those exploring career options
    • 1:1 Sessions: 10 minutes each | one student and one employer representative can attend
      • Ideal for: job seekers and those looking to make personal connections with students
  • You create your own schedule

What's the same?

  • Students still want to meet YOU!
  • Individual opportunities (1:1 sessions) for conversations with target students. We recommend a combination of 1:1 and group sessions to connect with students.
  • Preparation is key! Be sure to have your schedule built by Friday, January 28, 2022 to ensure student engagement.

Remember, for many, this is students’ AND employers’ first time doing a virtual fair, so hiccups may happen. Career staff will be available to answer questions and troubleshoot during the fair.

  3. Familiarize yourself with Handshake’s platform

Student using laptop

  1. Choose a quiet, distraction-free place to set up, make sure you have a stable internet connection, your laptop is plugged in, and video and audio working.

  2. Make sure that you are using a supported browser- we recommend Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

  3. Handshake Video Requirements and Troubleshooting

  4. Sign in up to an hour before your session and test your video.

  5. If you need assistance, join us on Zoom from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm MST
  6. While in sessions with students, ask if and how they’d like to be followed up with or contacted in the future. Time will move quickly during the fair, so following up with students will be important!

  7. Give yourself grace, we know there can be dogs barking, kids in the background, and other noises. You are going to do a great job!

Follow up with students after the fair

After your sessions are over, follow up with participants! You can send messages in Handshake, download resumes, and host virtual interviews!
