Why work here?
Working at the CSU Career Center means being part of a community where people genuinely care about one another and about the impact of their work. Our staff regularly describe feeling seen, supported, and encouraged—through thoughtful check-ins, shared celebrations, honest feedback, and a culture that values learning together. We take pride in showing up for students and alumni, building meaningful partnerships with employers, and creating engaging, responsive programs that meet people where they are. Just as importantly, we value life beyond work—whether that’s enjoying Fort Collins’ music scene, exploring trails and natural areas, volunteering on campus, or connecting through local organizations. Here, colleagues become collaborators, mentors, and community members, united by a shared commitment to helping others grow and thrive.

“A lot of folks might highlight all the outdoor fun, but our public library system (Poudre Libraries) is pretty rad! We have three different locations around town and they serve the community beyond just books. I’ve gone to movie/craft nights, attended author talks, volunteered, and more!”
How does your work (or your team’s work) make a difference that you feel proud to share?
“The Experiential Learning Team has been able to really push our campus and community to think more intentionally about internships, especially through our SPARK Program. I’m proud to develop well-paid, meaningful experiences for students and to be partners with internship supervisors who want to grow in inclusive student supervision. I’m so proud of our former SPARK participants and at the opportunity to provide a space for them to shine in their brilliance!”

We manage the systems, technology, marketing, assessment, and business processes that keep services running smoothly and ensure students and staff have the support they need to succeed. By improving operations and driving innovation, our team helps deliver seamless, high-quality career services that make a real impact on student success.
Campus Experiential Learning Team
The Campus Experiential Learning Team connects students to meaningful, direct career experiences by integrating internships, on-campus employment, fellowship pathways, and campus partnerships into a coordinated strategy. This team works closely with employers, supervisors, and campus colleagues to design high-quality experiential opportunities that support student growth, career readiness, and aim to reduce opportunity gaps to increase overall student success. Through relationship-building, program development, and their spheres of influence, the team creates clear pathways for students to explore interests, build skills, and translate their experiences into career momentum.
Employer Relations Team
The Employer Relations Team serves as the primary connection point between the university and external organizations who have an interest in supporting or hiring CSU students. This team strategically connects students with job, internship, and networking opportunities through career fairs, events and programs, and employer partnership services while operating under a philosophy that prioritizes student success, ensures access to opportunities for all employers, and actively works to build employer capacity for wholistic hiring and supportive work environments. Through employer partnerships, this team has a focus on advocating for and generating external revenue to support student success efforts in the Career Center.

By collaborating across colleges and programs, the team helps create a connected career ecosystem that aligns academic experiences, experiential learning, and professional development—ensuring students are supported holistically as they move from exploration to graduation and beyond.
Career Center & CSU Hiring Process Overview
We believe hiring is a two-way conversation — a chance for you to learn about our community just as much as we learn about you. Here’s what you can expect in our process:
1. Apply Online
- Submit your application through the CSU Jobs Website before the review date listed in the posting.
- Applications submitted before the review date receive full consideration.
- Make sure to include all required materials (cover letter, resume/CV, references, etc.).
2. Search Committee Review
- Each position has a search committee — a diverse group of staff who represent the areas this role will collaborate with.
- The committee carefully reviews all applications.
- The hiring authority (typically the supervisor for the position) participates as part of this collaborative team.
3. First-Round Interview
- If selected, you’ll be invited to a phone or virtual interview with the search committee.
- This conversation helps us learn more about your background and interests.
- You’ll also have a chance to ask questions about the team and role.
4. Finalist Interviews
- Finalists are invited for a second-round interview, which often includes:
- Meetings with key stakeholders and colleagues the role would work closely with.
- A campus or community open forum, where you can share your experiences and ask questions in an informal setting.
- Opportunities to learn about the culture, priorities, and partnerships that make CSU unique.
5. Selection & Offer
- After all interviews, the search committee provides recommendations to the hiring authority, who makes the final decision.
- You’ll be contacted by HR or the hiring authority regarding next steps.
- All candidates receive communication once the position has been filled.
Our Approach
We strive to ensure every candidate experiences:
- A welcoming process, guided by respect and transparency.
- Multiple opportunities to connect with different voices and perspectives across campus.
- A holistic understanding of the role, the community, and the impact you can make at CSU.
